PGT-A
Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) is a procedure used to screen embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before implantation during in vitro fertilization (IVF). It involves removing a few cells from an embryo and analyzing their chromosomes for conditions like Down syndrome, trisomy 18, and other chromosomal disorders. PGT-A helps identify embryos with the correct number of chromosomes, increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy. This test is particularly useful for women of advanced maternal age or those with a history of recurrent miscarriages. PGT-A can reduce the risk of genetic disorders and improve IVF success rates. The procedure is performed after embryo biopsy and genetic testing. Although it enhances embryo selection, it is not a diagnostic test for all genetic conditions.
